My name is Heidi
Schamberger and I reside in Kansas City, Mo.
k9 closet began in the fall of 2001. I will not
bore you with the old familiar saying, "I couldn't find
anything cute enough for my dog-bla bla bla." The
truth is:
My mother in law Doreen
bought me a sewing machine. Let me start off by telling
you about the best mother in law in the world:
Doreen was the most amazing woman that I ever had the
honor of knowing. She was the best at everything.
She could sew, cook, teach and so much more.
Doreen passed away from cancer on May 5, 2007. I
know she is still in our hearts and is proud of what I
have accomplished with this gift she taught me. I
have a funny story that will always stick with me. I
wanted to make her something special with this machine
she had purchased me so I thought, what is better than a
beautiful scarf? I bought the most couture beaded
fabric I could find. I stitched this garment until there
was no tomorrow. When she came to our house I
proudly handed her the scarf. She was ecstatic. As
she draped the scarf over her shoulders one by one the
beads fell to the wood floor. (It was never ending, I
swear it had hundreds of beads) I know she saw the
disappointment and embarrassment in my face.
She hugged me and told me not to worry, it was still
beautiful. I love and miss her so much!
I am also proud to say
that Doreen named k9 closet.
On to my new found sewing
machine. I wondered what I was going to do with the
fine piece of metal. I knew I loved fine fabrics,
fun handbags and so forth but I told myself, " I will
never quilt!" =) I made a few things
for my Chihuahua Beetle Juice and they were horrific. I
didn't give up. I would sew all night until I had it
right. After many long nights I made the cutest
little coat for her. I was pretty proud of myself
that it fit and actually looked nice! I made a few
dozen more for her and then thought.. "maybe I should
make her a cute collar". Well after making
quite a few I decided to put them on eBay to see if
anyone would think they were as cute as I did. It was
slow going, but amazingly today it has grown beyond my
expectations. Since then I have invested in 9
different types of industrial machines. I love
each and every one of them.
I believe that dogs and cats alike
should look fashionable, but at the same time I believe
that products should be safe. When you
purchase a k9 closet collar, we promise your pooch will
be fashionable and safe.
Thank
you for taking the time to read this. k9 closet would
not be what it is today if it were not for you or my
amazing mother in law, Doreen Schamberger.
